I just ordered and downloaded DatePal Pro – but when I unzipped to install, what was installed was MS Ring Tones – looks like the wrong exe is in the download.

After installing DatePal Pro I get the following message:
"There is no application associated with "dp".  Run the application first, then open this file from within the application".  What should I do?

I get the screen with the Holiday and Cleanup buttons.  When I tap on Holidays the program disappears.  When I tap on Cleanup the program closes again.  Can you help?

Can DatePal Pro be installed on a removable memory card?

I just ordered and downloaded DatePal Pro – but when I unzipped to install, what was installed was MS Ring Tones – looks like the wrong exe is in the download.

To install DatePal Pro correctly, install it from it’s own folder.  In other words, if you normally download into a folder named download and then install your software from there, don’t do that.  Make a folder and put the file you downloaded into that folder.  No other file should be in the folder.

Very often different software packages will use files with the same name in their installation programs this can cause a lot of confusion when downloading and installing programs.  It is a good practice to always download and install a program from an empty folder to prevent files from mixing together.

From time to time the internal pointers of the Pocket PC get a little confused and need to be reset.  This program will do just that.  It should be pointed out that this is not a DatePal Pro problem, this could have happened with any program on your Pocket PC.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Download VBREGFIX. You can get it from: http://www.nca-corp.com/
  2. Follow the instructions for installation and run VBREGFIX.
  3. Soft reset your Pocket PC. ** This is a very important step ** Please be sure that you only press the reset button, we do not want a hard reset to accidently wipe out everything on your Pocket PC.
  4. Next tap the icon to run DatePal Pro.
  5. Enjoy using DatePal Pro.

It is sometimes necessary to perform these steps more than once.

When Microsoft originally released the Pocket PC 2002 operating system they forget to put support for the Pocket Outlook Object Model (the built-in Outlook functions, calendar, tasks & contacts) into the embedded Visual Basic runtime.  Therefore, any program written in embedded Visual Basic that attempts to use the Pocket Outlook Object Module fails.  This bug has been corrected in new Pocket PC 2002 devices; this patch may not be necessary for machines purchased after October 2002.

Download the appropriate Service Pack Update file then follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall DatePal Pro.  Use the Remove Program icon in your Pocket PC’s utility menu.
  2. Do a soft reset (press only the reset button).
  3. Install the Service Pack Update.
  4. Do a soft reset.
  5. Install DatePal Pro.
  6. Do a soft reset.

Please note: On rare occasions it has been necessary to repeat these steps several times, if the first attempt is unsuccessful.

Can DatePal Pro be installed on a removable memory card?

Yes, DatePal Pro will run fine from main memory or from a memory card.  If you install DatePal Pro on a memory card, please be sure the card is in your Pocket PC before you attempt to run DatePal Pro.
